Dorman Range – request for volunteers

The Dorman Range needs some volunteers who would be available to cook for about 15 special events throughout the year.  Unless we get a ‘keener’ who would enjoy committing to doing it all we were planning to set up a team of 3 to 5 cooks and a coordinator to ensure we have coverage at all our events.

We hold 11 Sporting Clays shoots per year, a registered Trap Shoot and a Registered Skeet Shoot plus our Boxing Day and New Years Day shoots.  We already have 3 cooks that are available for one or two shoots per year so if we could get 2 or 3 more the work load would not be too onerous.

Duties include:  deciding on the menu, buying the supplies, preparing and serving the meal and cleaning up afterward.  There is no need to handle cash as we pre-sell tickets for lunches.  We will provide estimates of numbers of lunches required for each shoot and help as required with menu choices and otherwise as required.

The dates for the Sporting Clays Shoots are the 4th Saturday of each month wit between 60 and 100 attendees.  The registered shoots are on Sundays in April 3 and May 22 (Sundays) with 25 – 30 shooters.  Boxing Day and New Year’s speak for themselves.

Interested members should contact Bob Davenport by email only at  If you do not have email you can call Tina and Don Wilson at 250 752 6176 for information and to sign up.

Thank you all for your continued support

Cabela’s Nanaimo – Spring Great Outdoor Days Event – April 2nd & 3rd, 2016

Volunteers Needed!

We are looking for a few volunteers in the Nanaimo area interested in helping us at the Cabela’s Spring Great Outdoor Days Event in Nanaimo on Saturday, April 2nd from 11-3pm and Sunday, April 3rd, from 11-3pm.

We will have a designated BCWF area featuring general information, Membership sales and renewals, ticket sales for our Conservation lottery, as well as something fun for customers to potentially win some BCWF prizes.

Any help is greatly appreciated! Without our dedicated Members that step up to volunteer their time, BCWF would simply not be able to participate in events such as these.

If you would like to volunteer or would like more information, please contact Rheagan Thompson at or 1-888-881-BCWF ext. 233

WEP activities result in habitat restoration, enhancement & conservation through the collaboration of communities, BCWF clubs/members, NGOs, naturalist groups & First Nations.

There are a few free places available to PQFG members – please email for more info or to register.
