Updated for the 2019 Membership Year
Commencing with the 2016 membership year, we implemented the facility for members to join online and pay using credit or Visa debit cards through PayPal. This facility had been requested a great deal by members and we were happy to provide it. The 2018 membership year saw over 66% of members sign up through the online portal which saves a huge number of volunteer hours!
We have found over the last couple of years that some people that do not have a PayPal account sometimes struggle with the process of paying and, coupled with some back-end challenges with PayPal support, we have taken the decision to change our payment processor to Stripe.
Online processing has many benefits, the primary ones being speed and convenience. Members joining via the online portal will receive an email with a membership number as evidence of membership rather than the previous membership card and will no longer have to wait for the time-consuming manual membership process to complete before having access to BCWF membership etc.
We realize that there are members that still prefer to deal with cash or talk with a real person to join up. To accommodate this, we will take manual memberships at Henry Range through our caretaker there (Rick Gammon) and with prior agreement, we should have the facility for prospective members to do the same at Dorman Range and also through the archery team at the Nanoose Pentecostal Camp. Please bear in mind that the manual processing time can be lengthy so online memberships renewals or new member sign-ups are preferred.
At the 2018 Annual General Meeting, the members present passed a motion to increase the club membership fees by $20 for all categories other than Junior for the 2019 membership year. Also, access keys for Henry Range are up $5 to $35 or two keys (for Family or Senior Couple membership categories) for $40.
Using the online form
- The membership form is dynamic which means that you only see the options available depending on the level of club membership you have chosen under ‘Membership Category’
- In order to use the self-serve online membership portal, an email address is required. If you do not have an email address and do not wish to obtain one, please attend a monthly meeting or one of the alternative locations in order to have your application processed and receive proof of membership.
- You do not need a PayPal account to use the online payment processing facility. Simply choose the link at the bottom of the window labelled ‘Don’t have a PayPal account?’ if you do not already have an account.
