Dorman Range Archery
Archery is available year round at the Dorman Range. There is an outdoor target butt and a field course with bags and some animals. We ask the crossbow shooters not use the field course butts or the target butt and that there is no shooting with broadhead tips. If you wish to meet up with other users of this range or have a tour of the field course please contact us at arrowsmitharchers@shaw.ca .
The Club schedule must be adhered to, please note other club events, the standard shooting schedule and activities by checking the web calendar.
We also host an annual 3D shoot at the Dorman Range in February. This shoot is called the Harry Tutton Memorial Shoot, named for one of our long time members. The Harry Tutton shoot is open to archers province-wide.
Range schedule
Regular trap and skeet practice is held every Sunday from 10 am and even dated Wednesdays from 11 am. The range closes when shooters are finished for the day, usually around 1:00 pm.
Sporting Clay shoots for squads of up to 6 shooters are held on the 4th Saturday of each month (except December) at 10 am. Registration starts at 8:45 am. For exceptions see the events calendar.
Sporting Clays is becoming increasingly popular on the island with shooter numbers in excess of 90 not uncommon. We get representation from clubs as far away as Gold River and Victoria and on the big weekends, the field is full of campers. In addition, we get squads made up of husbands and wives and brothers and sisters, grandfathers, and grandsons. It's a family outing on one hand and competitive on the other. Come and see what it's all about.
Youth Shooting Program
To encourage young shooters, Dorman Range has a program of discounts for shooters 16 years old and under. This includes free introductory rounds and reduced costs for shells and targets. Youth shooters must be accompanied by a parent, guardian or by a family friend with a letter of permission.
Hearing and eye protection must be worn while shooting Trap and Skeet and while on the Sporting Clays course.
Maximum shot size is 7 1/2.
Guns may only be loaded when on a shooting stand.
Actions must be open at all times when not shooting.
