Dorman Range Reopening

Dorman Range Reopening

We have reached a point where we feel that the range can safely be opened, with the attached guidelines in force. We will open on Sunday, March 28, at 10:00.

There will be printed copies of the guidelines available at the sign-in table.

Much discussion has gone on re the opening, including with the Vancouver Island Health Authority. We must abide by the attached guidelines or we will be closed again.

The objective of the guidelines is to minimize contact with each other, to prevent passing on of any possible virus. We consider payment for each round of shooting to be a possible contact situation and so we hope to minimize this contact with the purchase of a punch card (which will give you 11 rounds of shooting) for $50.00. Exact cash will be required so no change will be needed.

We also will minimize money contacts by not selling shells. Sorry about that, but most people already have a supply of shells.

Possible modification to the guidelines are:

  • sign-in will be by the person at the sign-in table, not by the individual shooters. Membership number and a contact telephone number will be required.
  • we will use the speakers, so constant contact and sanitizing of the control button is not needed. Once the speakers are set out, do not touch them.
  • masks can be removed at the shooting stations as there is 2m separation between shooters.
  • we will not be recording scores, to avoid contact through paper handling. The common method used for score keeping is for the shooter to place an empty shell in his/her pocket for each clay that is missed. (Bring along a second vest if you feel that you will need large storage pockets.)

Note to skeet shooters:

The skeet field will be closed until the foundations for the high house can be modified. We will advise when that has been completed
